The Best Days of the Year

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah - the best days of the year - often pass us by without much pomp or circumstance while the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, has relayed to us, "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days". [Abu Dawud]

Through His infinite mercy, Allah has blessed us with endless opportunities to multiply our rewards in these ten days, including: Fasting, Giving Charity (Sadaqah), Increasing our Dhikr, Reading Quran, Spending extra time with Family & Loved Ones, Giving Qurbani, Celebrating Eid, and the list goes on.

To prepare for these blessed days, there is much we can do.  As we typically prepare for Ramadan, we can similarly prepare for the days of Dhul-Hijjah.  Involving our children is essential in fostering a love for the days of Dhul-Hijjah, as we similarly include them in our Ramadan preparations and activities.  It's the perfect time for building traditions and making memories.

Get Creative & Crafty

This super cute idea came to us from Fareesa @thestoryofmygirls.  Last Ramadan, Fareesa filled one of our Moon Dome Jars with 30 slips of paper, each containing an activity for the kids, encouraging them to engage in ibaadah and other good deeds.  Every day, the kids pulled a slip of paper from the jar, performed the task or activity, and earned good deeds and rewards from Allah.

This activity would work beautifully during the days of Dhul-Hijjah, wherein our good deeds and extra ibaadah are most beloved to Allah.

A Stunning Centerpiece

Not only does this activity bring an element of fun and excitement to these blessed days, but it also creates an opportunity to beautifully decorate our homes for the holidays.  Here, Fareesa combined our Pearls of North Africa Mosque & Minaret with a Moon Dome Jar to create a stunning table centerpiece.

These neutral décor pieces work in any room of the house and are often kept up all year round for decoration.  Kids and adults alike are charmed by their modern look and feel: so different from the décor we typically see during Ramadan and Eid.
