The story behind:
Jabal An-Noor: The Mountain of Light
Jabal An-Noor, known as the Mountain of Light, is a significant landmark near Mecca, Saudi Arabia, steeped in rich Islamic history and spiritual importance.
The Sacred Cave of Hira: Where Revelation Began
The Cave of Hira is a small cave nestled within Jabal An-Noor, where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought solitude and spiritual contemplation.
A Pivotal Moment: Muhammad's (PBUH) First Revelation
In the year 610 CE, during the holy month of Ramadan, Muhammad (PBUH) retreated to the Cave of Hira. It was here that he received his first divine revelation from the Angel Gabriel. The encounter, where Angel Gabriel commanded Muhammad (PBUH) to "Read" or "Recite" (Iqra').
Angel Gabriel appeared before him and said, "Recite in the name of your Lord who created - Created man from a clinging substance. Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - Who taught by the pen - Taught man that which he knew not." (Quran, Surah Al-Alaq, verses 1-5).
This event marked the beginning of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) prophethood and the revelation of the Holy Quran.
Symbolism and Significance
Jabal An-Noor holds profound symbolism in Islam, representing the dawn of a new era with the advent of Muhammad's mission as the final prophet. It signifies divine guidance and enlightenment, embodying the spiritual journey and profound faith of Muslims worldwide.
